Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood located in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" area. Many people unfamiliar with the word often think that it's a separate island somewhere to the west of Montreal however, this part of West Island is home to everything from Lachine west to the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. However, it's not the case. Brugel was raised in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an actress, but after a sudden growth spurt her partners were no longer able to dance with her. She admitted in an article published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. Once I was bigger than any male partner then I slowed down. A lot of dancers go from dancing to acting. As for the Brugel family, it was their drama instructor who pushed her in that direction. It was her teacher who advised her to audition for the role of Anne in their annual school production. She auditioned and was cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. The show was granted the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program which she completed from the program in 2000, earning a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. Over the past 20 years that followed, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions on small and big screens drawing the most media attention after she was offered the character in the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel played the role of the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale which was filming over 10 years ago.
